My Dear Church Family,

It was so good to have our first physical worship service since March 15. I cannot tell you in words how much I have missed seeing you. Yes, the Online Services have been a wonderful way to keep us connected during this strange time, but there is no substitute for us being together. We have done everything possible to keep everyone safe, and it is safe. It is now time for us to realize we cannot continue this lock-down with everyone sheltering in their homes. Just this morning, I heard on the news that we have to open things up again for economic and social reasons. If we don’t, we are not going to have a country. Yes,
the cure can be worse than the virus. One congressman said the churches in America is so important in the process because people of faith can demonstrate it is time to go to our houses of worship. I truly feel we as believers should set the example because it is not only the right thing to do, it is our duty to demonstrate personal faith at a time such as this.

I commend our Governor for opening Texas up incrementally. We at MBC have taken a very measured position during the pandemic. Following the Governor’s directive, we are allowed 25% of our capacity for worship services which is 100 people. We decided to be cautious and have our first service limited to only 50. Sunday, we saw it is absolutely safe and we sensed the people who came felt good about it. THEREFORE, THIS SUNDAY, MAY 17 WE WILL ALLOW 100 PEOPLE TO COME, BUT AGAIN IT WILL BE RSVP. Please call the office anytime between 8:30 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. After that time call Anita Wood on her cell at (346) 236-3353 to make reservations. Those who are 75 and older with underlying health conditions should probably not come for a couple of more weeks. Those who have undergone chemotherapy treatments resulting in a compromised immune system probably should wait even longer.

This is Graduate Sunday and it will be a great day for you to come back to church. So, please go ahead and make your reservations and if you are in good health, it is absolutely safe to come. We must use good common sense, yet at the same time not be paralyzed by fear. Although we will practice physical distancing, all of the staff will be here to welcome you back to church this Lord’s Day. Until then,

Keep Looking Up!!!
